Welcome to Axis Science

Platform Goals

The Axis Science Platform is designed to help schools:

Capture student-generated scientific explanations
Evaluate student reasoning using research-based rubrics
Identify patterns of understanding and misconception
Provide teachers with useful classroom-level insights
Support administrators with school and district-level views
Reduce the grading burden associated with open-ended science tasks

Designed for NGSS

The platform is being developed to support three-dimensional science learning, including:

Disciplinary Core Ideas
Science and Engineering Practices
Crosscutting Concepts

This approach reflects the instructional shift required by modern science standards: students must do more than remember information. They must use evidence, construct explanations, and apply scientifi

Teacher and Administrator Dashboards

Axis Science is being designed with dashboards that provide practical information for classroom and district use.

Teachers will be able to review class patterns, student responses, misconception clusters, and possible instructional next steps. Administrators will be able to view broader implementation and learning trends across classrooms, schools, and grade levels.

Built for Practical Implementation

The platform is being designed as a browser-based tool that works with common school technology, including desktop computers, laptops, and Chromebooks.

The goal is to make implementation manageable for teachers, students, school leaders, and district technology teams.

Current Development Focus

Axis Science is currently focused on middle school science, with an initial emphasis on Grades 6–8. The platform is being developed through a phased research and pilot process to test usability, feasibility, teacher value, and classroom fit.
